Out Tha Swamp Vol. 2: DMT Alpy & Thats Creep’s Florida Collab

After a stretch focused on singles and music videos, DMT Alpy returned in June 2024 with a full collaborative project: Out Tha Swamp, Vol. 2, a joint effort with Thats Creep. Released on June 26, 2024, the album represents one of the most focused releases in either artist’s catalog — and arguably the best showcase of what South Florida’s underground sounds like right now.

The Partnership

DMT Alpy and Thats Creep aren’t new collaborators. Their names have appeared alongside each other for years — on singles like “Check Engine Light” (2022), “Banned Worldwide,” and tracks scattered across both artists’ solo releases. Thats Creep (Garrett Rich) brings a complementary energy to Alpy’s style: where Alpy is fluid and unpredictable, Creep provides a grounded counterweight that keeps things tethered.

The “Vol. 2” in the title implies a previous installment, suggesting this creative partnership has deep roots. Out Tha Swamp as a series name couldn’t be more fitting — it’s a direct nod to the swamplands of South Florida that shaped both artists.

Standout Moments

Tracks like “Fly” featuring Mia show the duo’s willingness to bring in outside voices when the song calls for it. The feature adds a melodic dimension that opens up the project’s sonic range beyond straight bars. Meanwhile, “Banned Worldwide” — with its defiant lyrics about being “a product of when the storm hits” — captures the project’s underlying theme: survival, persistence, and making art despite every reason not to.

The production maintains the murky, bass-forward aesthetic that defines both artists’ work, but there’s a cohesion here that comes from two people recording together rather than trading files. You can feel the in-room energy.

What the Title Means

“Out Tha Swamp” works on multiple levels. Literally, it references the Florida landscape — the Everglades, the wetlands, the particular geography of Broward County. Metaphorically, it’s about emergence. Coming up from the mud. Making something from nothing. It’s a phrase that carries weight in Florida hip-hop circles, and Alpy and Creep earn it.

Where It Fits

In DMT Alpy’s discography, Out Tha Swamp, Vol. 2 marks a shift. After two dense solo albums (Binyay and RadioLobes), this project feels more focused and collaborative. It’s less about one artist’s vision and more about what happens when two complementary voices share a lane.

For listeners discovering DMT Alpy through recent singles like “The Cheat Code (Freestyle)”, this collab project offers crucial context for where the artist is headed. Stream it on Apple Music, Spotify, and all major platforms.
